ABOUT

As a designer, my goal is to create a community within fashion for those of you brave enough to embrace your unique style. I start my design process by conducting research to see what the fashion market currently has and to determine what we need. I make all my designs by focusing on the most innovative ways for fabric to interact with the human form while maintaining a balance of function, aesthetics, and quality.

Banyaga is my name and my identity. The word “banyaga” is of Filipino origin and in Tagalog it means “foreign” or “alien.” It has a negative connotation when used in a cultural context. I want to change this perception. The state of being foreign or alien should not be perceived as a bad thing, rather it should be embraced. The world needs more people who are willing to be different and accept what may be unfamiliar to them. Banyaga is not concerned about blending in because we invite you to stand out.

I am creating Banyaga with the intention of being not only a clothing brand but also an outlet for artistic experimentation. Banyaga encompasses multiple creative mediums such as high end streetwear, music, fine art, and design. My vision is to make Banyaga’s concepts globally accessible. By combining the functionality of streetwear with the artistry of runway fashion, I am generating concepts that explore how high-end fashion can be more accessible in a daily context. My brand identity advocates contemporary cultural ideals and my clothing creates narratives by communicating through design. With my label being based in Los Angeles, it reflects the city by being edgy yet luxurious.

Although I was born in Los Angeles, I was raised in Long Beach, California. I am a traditional visual artist, creative director, artistic director, 3D animator, fashion designer, social media entrepreneur, model, interior designer, and DJ. I graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School, earned my Associates in Studio Art from Long Beach City College, then earned my Bachelors in Studio Art from California State University Long Beach at the age of 21. In 2022, I was hired at Maxfield LA in West Hollywood. This was my first experience working in luxury fashion. It was here that I gained much of my understanding of the fashion industry, luxury designers, and high end quality expectations.
